IRS scam
Remember.....the Internal Revenue Service does not contact delinquent taxpayers by phone unless they first arrange a phone call by mail. Fredrick Moussa, Old Sevierville Highway, Newport, told Newport Patrol Officer Mike Robey on Saturday that he received a call from an individual who identified himself as Jason Miller, an IRS agent. Miller said Moussa owed more than $6,000 in back taxes and he would be jailed if he did not make a $2,000 payment immediately. The "agent" told Moussa to obtain Walmart gift cards totaling $2,000 and to call him with the payment numbers. Miller says he did so and later learned from Walmart that the four cards had been cashed in at the Walmart store in Oldsmar, Florida.
