David Fine arrest A New Cave Church Raod, Newport man is in custody following a Saturday evening pursuit involving Newport Patrol Officers Chris Silvers and Paul Weber. Officer Silvers said he tried to stop David Fine, 45, on Epley Raod for a registration violation but the subject fled. Fine was pursued South on South Highway 321, then he swerved off the roadway and drove his 1989 Suburu through several fields at a high rate of speed, then after returning to the roadway, Fine passed vehicles on a double yellow line. Officer Weber tried to block the roadway, but had to back away to prevent being rammed by Fine. The pursued auto was damaged as it crossed an another field and a roadway with a ditch. Fine finally stopped in a driveway on Kingdom Way. The subject said he tried to elude officers because he was driving on a revoked license. Fine was jailed on charges of evading arrest by motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, Fifth offense driving on a revoked license, reckless driving, speeding, failure to exercise due care, failure to obey a traffic control device, no insurance and the registration violation.
