Cherokee National Forest road closures
The Cherokee National Forest has announced that the recent early winter storm has created dangerous road conditions and several disabled or abandoned vehicles have been located by TWRA officers on forest service roads. This is one of the reasons that the US Forest Service closes roads in the winter, along with the protection of wildlife habitat, decreasing wildlife disturbance and reducing road maintenance costs. A number of roads have been closed in Cocke County until March 14, 2018. They include; Wolf Creek, Big Clifty, Meadow Creek Mountain, Weaver Bend and Rattlesnake Roads.
