Arrowood arrest
A Newport woman was jailed Friday evening after Newport Sgt. Derek Wright responded to a residence on Walters Drive, on a report that children were in the home with an impaired parent. Police found Michelle Arrowood, 38, seated on the floor, partially nude in the presence of five and nine year-old children. Officers determined that Arrowood had been drinking beer and moonshine, and she later was incoherent and passed out as officers interviewed her. The subject was jailed on two counts Child Abuse and Neglect, including one child under the age of six. A referral was made to the Department of Children's Services.
