Safe Boating Awareness
The 2018 National Safe Boating Week is May 19-25 and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be participating in an effort to promote the wearing of life jackets as the summer boating season starts in full force. The “Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day” is today, with the goal of demonstrating how easy it is to wear a life jacket, even while at work. On Saturday, Ready, Set, Wear It!, will enter its ninth year in an effort to bring awareness to the importance of life jackets by holding a world record day. Participants will again be part of the attempt to break a world record for the most life jackets worn at one time. The worldwide event kicks off the start of National Safe Boating Week. Both events help usher in National Safe Boating Week which is annually held the week prior to Memorial Day Weekend. The goal of National Safe Boating Week is to educate the public about the importance of safe boating practices and wearing life jackets while on the water.
