Cocke Fire
A number of firefighters Sunday morning responded to a cabin fire in the Del Rio community of Cocke County. Cocke County Firefighter Alex Reese said the 4:15 am blaze started in the kitchen of the home on Fugate Road, owned by David Haney but rented to an unidentified family. The Cocke County Fire Department was assisted in battling the blaze by the Del Rio, Parrottsville and Long Creek Volunteer Fire Departments. The interior of the structure was gutted leaving damage to the cabin estimated at $50,000, plus the contents, according to Firefighter Reese.
