Jefferson City train/car crash
Jefferson City police say a woman escaped injury Tuesday evening when she was able to escape from her overturned car before it was struck by a train At about 8:15 pm officers responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a train at the intersection of W. Main St. and Bishop Avenue. Officer Doug Cochran determined that the vehicle, operated by Kristen N. Fike, 31, of Jefferson City, had gone out of control, overturned and came to a rest on its side at the tracks. Fike was able to escape her car through the sunroof of the vehicle and make her way up an embankment before the train struck her auto. She was charged with driving on a suspended license and violation of the open container law.
