King guilty plea
In Cocke County Circuit Court on Monday, Judge Carter Moore accepted a guilty plea from Earnest Ray King, 38, English Street, Newport, to charges of attempted second degree murder and especially aggravated burglary. In November 2018, Newport officers responded to a Tabor Street home to find the resident, George Millington, 41, with a stab wound to the side. King had allegedly run into the residence, pulled out a knife and stabbed Millington before fleeing the scene on foot. The injured Millington was flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment. After Judge Moore accepted the negotiated plea, he ordered King to serve an eight year sentence, have no contact with Milligton and to pay restitution for the medical bills.
