Williams injury
One man was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash on Old Fifteenth Road in Del Rio at 12:50 am on Saturday. Deputy Lt. Michael Whitmer said the incident involved a 1990 GEO Tracker operated by Kyler Scott McGill, 20, Huff Road, Cosby, and occurred near the intersection with Coggins Road. There were four passengers in the Tracker but the only one injured was identified as Brody Thomas Duran Williams, 22, Ninth Street, Newport who was totally ejected from the vehicle. Officer Whitmer said while negotiating a curve, McGill attempted to downshift to slow down. The Tracker made contact with loose gravel that was on the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway, went down a six-foot embankment and then flipped onto it's side, ejecting Williams who was in the front passenger seat and not restrained. McGill reportedly told Lt. Whitmer he had drunk four beers several hours before the crash. As a result he was charged with underage driving while impaired and no insurance. Williams was flown to the UT Medical Center trauma unit in Knoxville.
