Dignity in Aging Act
US Representative Phil Roe, Republican of the First District released a statement after the House Committee on Education and Labor passed the Dignity in Aging Act on Wednesday Roe says the Older Americans Act helps ensure older Americans get critical care and services, and it was passed in a bipartisan manner. It authorizes critical funding for agencies that provide nutrition services, family caregiver support and other services to protect the elderly from abuse, exploitation and neglect. The OAA was last reauthorized in 2016 and is set to expire on September 30. An amendment offered by Representative Roe and Lauren Underwood will authorize state and area agencies on aging to use federal funding to help prevent and treat drug abuse and addiction among seniors.
