Recent jail incidents
Cocke County authorities say they made two arrests recently involving drugs and the county jail. On Friday, inmates were being escorted to the courthouse when Samantha Michelle Sisk, 28, Clay Hill Road, Newport, slipped off her handcuffs and ran around the courthouse. Deputy Sgt. Hollis Emmons said Sisk then ducked behind bushes and grabbed a string which had been dropped from the third floor jail. Someone had attached a sock to the string which contained methamphetamine, syringes, tobacco, batteries and candy. As a result, Sisk is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and escape from custody. Her bond is set at $25,000. Also on Saturday, Deputy James Cupp spotted Krystal Kimble, 35, Harper Circle, Newport, walking near the courthouse. Kimble appeared to be nervous and when questioned, admitted she had methamphetamine and needles in her purse. Kimble said she was delivering the baggies of methamphetamine, marijuana and needles to make a "drop" at the jail. The officer said that Kimble had been jailed on similar charges the day before but had been freed on bond, and she also had been banned from the jail. Now Kimble faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, casual exchange of marijuana, possession of drug contraband and criminal trespass.
