Voter registration deadline The voter registration deadline is only days away for the Presidential Preference Primary on Super Tuesday. The Cocke County Election Commission is urging residents to make sure they are registered by the deadline of Monday, February 3, in order to be eligible to vote in the March 3rd election. Josh Blanchard, Cocke County Administrator of Elections says residents may register to vote online at GoVoteTN.com, or register in-person at the election commission office by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3. The Cocke County Election Commission office is located in the Courthouse Annex, Room 130, at 360 E. Main Street in Newport. Weekday office hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Residents must have a record with the Tennessee Department of Safety in order to use the Tennessee Online Voter Registration system. New residents or those who have yet to get a Tennessee Driver License will have to register by paper form or in-person. Voter registration forms submitted by US Mail must be postmarked by February 3. Voter registration does not automatically transfer from county to county. For more information about voter registration, or to see if you are registered, call the election commission office at 623-2042 or use the voter lookup tool at GoVoteTN.com.
