Catons Grove shooting Cocke County authorities are investigating a shooting just before 4 am today at a residence on Catons Grove Road in the Cosby community. Aaron Lowery, 26, and Shana Ball, 24, along with their two small children were asleep when a passing motorist reportedly shot into the residence. Chief Cocke County Deputy Derrick Woods said the couple heard a single shot. The bullet grazed Ms. Ball and struck Lowery in the chest. The injured man was airlifted from the Smoky Mountain Elementary School to the UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. At last report the investigation into the shooting was on-going and no charges had been filed. Chief Woods said the caliber of the bullet and the motive for the shooting have not been determined. Carrie Ball the mother of Shana Ball in a social media post said, “Someone shot into their house and the bullet grazed Shana then went into Aaron's side. How could anyone shoot into a house where there's babies. They shot right past Kayslens bed into theirs. This is the scariest thing I've ever been thru.”
