COVID Update The total COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is 328,088 as of Thursday, including 4,128 deaths, and 2,003 current hospitalizations. Percent positive for testing on Thursday was 14.31% ] Local deaths Cocke 26, Jefferson 30, Greene 67, Hamblen 57, and Sevier 28. The Tennessee Education Association is calling on Gov. Bill Lee to provide more protections for educators and students. TEA President Beth Brown says, “What we’re seeing is districts across the state are doing the best they can without any strong leadership or any guidance from the state.” She wants a mask mandate for all school staff and students firm state guidance for school closure The concerns in the letter and requests for added safety measures, Brown says, are ways to get back to “normal” in the classroom.
