Hill arrested.
A Hot Springs, North Carolina woman faces charges after she tried twice recently to throw contraband to an inmate in the Cocke County Jail. Melissa Hill, 36, allegedly took baggies of tobacco and marijuana to the annex jail Thursday and tried to throw it over the roof of the jail into the recreation yard outside, for inmate Travis Wilkins. But the contraband landed on the roof of the facility. Officers learned that Hill would try to make another delivery on Friday, and when she arrived, was taken into custody. Hill explained she had tried to throw the items over the roof Thursday, "but my arms were too short." The subject told Newport Patrol Officer Paul Weber that she had contemplated bringing a ladder to the facility to deliver the items. Hill giggled as she talked and then admitted she had earlier shot -up Suboxone. She was found in possession of syringes and was jailed on charges of conspiracy to introduce contraband into the jail, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as public intoxication.
